Man Killed After Losing Control Of Vehicle, Hitting Trees In Dutchess County, Police Say

A Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly losing control of his 2023 Toyota Camry and hitting several trees.

A Putnam Valley man was killed after losing control of his car and smashing into several trees on the Taconic Parkway in LaGrange.

The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange.

According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, an investigation determined Putnam County resident Vikrant K. Sharma, age 45, of Putnam Valley, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and left the roadway for unknown reasons before striking several trees. 

 Sharma was pronounced dead on the scene by responding paramedics, Hicks said. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
